Born in Guyana, Tessa McWatt is a novelist and screenwriter who lives and works in Toronto, Canada. Her first novel, Out of My Skin (Cormorant Books) was published in 1998. Her second novel, Dragons Cry (Riverbank Press) was published in 2000 and short-listed for the City of Toronto Book Awards and Canada’s Governor General's Award. Her novella for young adults, There’s No Place Like, will be published by Macmillan Caribbean in 2004. Her third novel, This Body, will be published by HarperCollins Canada, also in 2004. Ms. McWatt has written and is producing a film based on John Berger's novel, To The Wedding. She has taught literature and creative writing for several years at institutions in Canada as well as in London.
