Opal Palmer Adisa’s new poetry collection, Caribbean Passion will be released in March 2004 by Peepal Tree Press. Her novel, The Orishas Command the Dance and her children's picture book, Catching Butterflies, will be forthcoming later this year. Some of Ms. Adisa’s previous titles include Tamarind and Mango Women (Sister Vision Press, 1992), winner of the American Book Award, and the novel It Begins With Tears (Heinemann Publishing, 1997). Since 1993, the Jamaican-born writer has taught literature and served as Chair of the Ethnic Studies/Cultural Diversity Program at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland.
