China Miéville

China Miéville was born in 1972. He has lived and worked in Egypt, Zimbabwe and the U.S., and is based in London, where he grew up. His first novel King Rat (Tor Books) was published in 1998. His second novel Perdido Street Station (Tor Books), was published in 2000, and won the Arthur C. Clarke and the British Fantasy Awards. His third, The Scar (Tor Books), came out in 2002, and his new novel, Iron Council, will be published later this year. An active socialist, China has also written political non-fiction.
