Russell Banks |

Russell
Banks is the author of fifteen works of fiction
including The Book of Jamaica, Continental Drift,
Rule of the Bone, Cloudsplitter, and his most
recently published novel, The Darling. He has
also written several short story collections,
including The Angel on the Roof.
Two of his novels, The Sweet Hereafter and Affliction,
have been made into award-winning motion pictures.
Currently Rule of the Bone, Continental Drift
and The Book of Jamaica are being adapted to film,
with Banks working on the screenplay for Bone
and Drift.
His work has received numerous awards and has
been widely translated and anthologized. Banks
is a member of The American Academy of Arts and
Letters and is President of the North American
Network of Cities of Asylum. He lives in upstate
New York with his wife, the poet Chase Twichell.
